Fletcher

We first visited the SPCA in October 2008 to see a dog our friends were going to adopt. While we were there we decided to take a dog on a walk. Going through the room, a midsized dog hiding in the corner caught our eye, and that's how we met our boy Fletcher.
On our walk, he was very timid, dropping and peeing instantly when we tried to pet him; but after many treats, he eventually let us and we immediately fell in love with this poor dog who had obviously been mistreated in the past.

Our next step was to bring our dog Lucki to the SPCA to meet Fletcher, the two of them became fast friends and we were all excited to add Fletcher to our family. Although still very timid, we were happy to discover he was a very well trained, very well-mannered, and very loving dog who just wanted to find his forever home.

It's been 2 years now since we added Fletcher to our family; we are convinced our yard would be over run with squirrels, lush with green grass and completely hole free if he were not here to keep things in order. He has continued to come out of his shell and has become a very playful and trusting boy. Always looking for a pat on the head and a hug, Fletcher brings us lots of happiness and love.

Due to his love of chasing critters in our yard, we were a little concerned about introducing Fletcher to the cat we brought home this winter. As I'm sure you can see from the pictures, we had nothing to worry about as Fletchy welcomed him with open paws :)

Thank you to the staff of the Brantford SPCA for taking such good care of Fletcher while he was waiting for us to find him. You are a wonderful group of people with amazing hearts, connecting animals with forever homes. We are very grateful :)

Jessie (Zoie) adopted

I figured you would want to know how buddy is doing. He has been a great addition to our home. His strong but loving personality has settled right into our home. He has been up north with us chasing any animal he spots. We love him very much and thank you for introducing us.

Hello,

My name is Stanley (711385B) and I was adopted from the Brant County SPCA in the beginning of August of this year. I am currently 6 months old. I am a grey tabby. My parents found me when I was staying at Paulmacs with my sister and brother. They fell in love with my palyful personality and beautiful white and grey colouring. What can I say, I'm a pretty good catch! I am having my Mom email to thank you for helping me find my forever home with my new family.

As for my family, I have a brother named Smokey who lets me bite his ears and tackle him while he sleeps. I eat most of his food, but he does not seem to mind. We get along great! My parents names are Nicole and Hugh. They are both university students up in Ottawa; Nicole is completing her MA degree and Hugh is going back to school to become an engineer. I like to help them study by laying on their books and scratching their notes! They even made me a bed on the desk so I felt included! I just need to learn not to step on their computer keyboards. I like my new home here is Ottawa. There are tons of squirrels, chipmunks and groundhogs that I watch from the bedroom window. I can also see Parliament but I don't like when the bells ring and wake me up.

I hope other potential parents read my success story and adopt a pet like me. I know there are many cats and dogs looking for good homes and I hope they can find them. Thank you SPCA for all your help and letting me stay with you until my parents could find me. They say thank you too.

Wilburs success story

Hi Brantford SPCA. It is time to update you on Wilbur. How do I start to tell you about our boy. He loves his brush every morning, is becoming more of a Daddy's boy (it is the treats received from the Dad I think) is loving and even makes a point of saying hello to visitors who come in. Has discovered that the fridge holds things that he likes. Does not like the word no. He now occasionally purrs out loud. The first time we noticed the louder purr I was cuddling him like a baby and rocking him. Well I started to cry. He rules the roost, The end of July finished 3 years of love and the start of year 4 with his adoption of us. He does not like change, we bought him a bed....well he hated it. We put some catnip in , and he still was upset with.it, needless to say the bed was removed and put in a closet. surprise he liked it there, but not to sleep in just to check it out. He now sleeps mostly in behind the TV in the bedroom, he likes to help make the bed on a morning, and also likes to trash it. Each day is a new adventure and a delight with our lovely fur ball. Our adoption story

Hello SPCA Friends,

On September 21 we adopted a cute little Collie cross named Mooky (log 712975). Her 5 month birthday is fast approaching (Friday) and we thought an update of her story would be appropriate. It is hard to believe such a beautiful puppy had to come to the shelter but how lucky we were to find her.

On the evening of Sept 21 she arrived at our home a little laid back from the spay surgery. The next day she started getting a little more inquisitive and displaying that playful puppy we first met at the shelter. It didn’t take long for her to adjust to life in our house and her unique personality has touched our hearts and those who have met her along the way. She has had her share of incidents as a “puppy” including counter surfing, shoe relocation and a game of tag (when she has something that does not belong).

She has done well in her walks, enjoys car rides and loves to socialize with all kinds of people (and dogs of all ages) including a few sleepovers with family. She has a devilish streak in her but then again what puppy doesn’t, however one tilt of her head and she melts your heart. Mooky has quickly picked up sitting at corners during our walks, going into her crate at bedtime and sometimes sitting nicely to have her paws wiped. We are still working through the training stage to stop the nipping & jumping but she is a fast learner.

All in all, she has adjusted well to her new family and is a bundle of joy to have around. Our son is so happy to finally see his wish come true ..... a family dog to love.

Thank you so much to the SPCA for helping us find this joy and taking care of her until we were meant to be together.

BEAU..

Just want to say thanks to all the SPCA workers.. We adopted Beau Sept 19 2010,
he's a beautiful dog and a great addition to our family. He truly is a perfect fit for us.
He's a handsome guy, gentle, listens well and is part of our family now...

Beau has encouraged our other dog Anya who was rescued from Quebec and needed
a lot of tender loving care to be more playful she is a happier dog since Beau joined us..
The two of them already act like brother & sister one minute they love each other the
next minute they are bugging one another...lol

It really has been a wonderful experience, now were a family of 5 , Myself, Chris
our son Nicholas, Anya and Beau....

He loves his walks, playing with toys, running around in the backyard, grooming Anya
and spending time with us..

We are so happy to have Beau in our lives....
